An eminent commentator on the Torah and the Talmud, Rashi (1040–1105) has, over the centuries, become the reference for every student. In concise and clear language, he provides everyone with the essential keys to a proper understanding of the Torah.

Yet his commentary remains difficult for the contemporary reader to penetrate. Too often, notions familiar to the great master are lacking for us; other times, he translates the words, but their deeper meaning escapes us. As a result, many settle for a superficial reading.

To help the student find better bearings, Rav Botschko proceeds in two stages: that of Clarification, which aims to develop the reasoning and interpret the commentary; and that of Questioning, which aims to explain the laws and resolve apparent contradictions.
